“Our story is how we found Lupaia. Whatever your story, whether a romance, family milestone, or a gastronomic affair, we’re sure it will become a magical Tuscan tale.”
Heidi and Christopher Mueller had a romantic ambition, to flee the corporate world and create the perfect small luxury hotel.
For two years they spent free weekends searching for their Italian idyll. It should be intimate in size and remote yet accessible to the cultural riches of the region.
Finally, after seeing more than sixty properties, they alighted on this stunning hilltop outside of Montepulciano, and that was the beginning of Lupaia.
Lupaia is Heidi and Christopher’s home, its rustic heritage is respected and the gardens flourish in their loving care, this is what makes the place so magical.
To quote SLH Small Luxury Hotels of the World: ‘Lupaia is the perfect place to connect with nature – and, most importantly, yourself.’
Lupaia was once a remote and rugged place, named for the wolves (lupi) that roamed the hilltop.
In 1622 farmers settled and built the stone stables dotted along our paths, their goats nestled on the ground floor, and they lived above.
Heidi and Christopher restored these original two floored dwellings into 12 enchanting rooms and suites.
